Four major climbs and many rolling hills waiting for you on this route. First ascent at km 38, 7.3 climbing to arrive to Rocca delle Caminate. A very technical descent to Predappio, ride slowly to allow for the bad road surface. From Predappio start the second long gentle climb to Valico Tre Faggi, about 40km and 860m climbing, to reach the top at 930 meters above the sea. Very gentle and easy for first 20kms, then medium difficulty to the summit. Tre Faggi is the “Cima Coppi”, the highest summit of our route. Not many places for taking on water. From the top a long descent to Florence. First check-point at Bar Cavallino – km 93,5 a few kilometers after the summit. After Florence, about at 162km the third long ascent to Carmignano, 380m climbing over about 12 kilometers to arrive at 420m above the sea. Second check-point Il Pinone restaurant – 174km We suggest you rest and eat (pappardelle al sugo di cinghiale). The fourth and last ascent starts between Bientina and Buti at 221km, 530m climbing in about 11 kilometers to reach 610m above sea-level at Passo Prato Ceragiola. This is the last summit of the route and third check-point, Cristalli restaurant after 234km.Arrival and last check-point on the Tirrenia beach. Before sunset. You are a FINISHER.

LOCAL TRAINS FROM FIRENZE TO PISA

From km 143 – Firenze, the Chase the Sun route is very close to the Firenze-Pisa railway.
In case of withdrawal from Chase the Sun we suggest the railway station closest to the track: Firenze SM Novella, Signa e San Miniato-Fucecchio. Or the S. Donnino, beside the dirt road exiting from Firenze, and Montelupo-Capraia easily reachable by descending from the Pinone restaurant in a southerly direction, following Castra street.

From Pisa station you can reach the Finish line exiting in San Pietro a Grado-Marina di Pisa direction, along Livornese street. Back at the station about 150m from the square, on the left side the path that leads to the sea.
